An Intercessory Intervention
Melissa S. (2/10/07)
As soon as I read June's email, I called family members in North Carolina for help. Then, I called my friend Jim to tell him about the suicide email and asked him to come right over. Naturally, Jim told his wife before flying out the door. Damaris greatly loved June for they shared a fellowship of suffering that forged a bond deeper than their wounds. She immediately called her good friend and prayer partner Melissa.
Together, they travailed through their tears until Melissa sensed an unction to take authority and decreed: Spirits of depression, confusion, and suicidal thoughts come out of her! Then she spoke to the Lord from her place of intercessory authority (knowing His Mind and her covenant position): Lord, break the yoke right NOW! Immediately, she felt something break and heard a sound exactly like that of a tree branch when it is snapped. They both received such peace and release that they hung up convinced that all would be well.
Keep in mind that none of us at that time had any idea if, or how, June would try to take her life. It shocked both Melissa and Damaris to learn three hours later that June had died. However, this part of the hidden tapestry of events that took place that dreadful day was life-giving for us to receive. I had been asking the Lord what He had used to awaken June from the sleep of that deep and deadly deception in order to get her out of the car. I knew when she had come to her senses and tried to escape the trap she set. Now, I knew exactly what, or rather, who He used.
